Liner Notes
Band is like a human being; it’s like watching a person grows as he/she experiences things one by one.
In April 12, 2006, 4th album titled “Confidence” was released.
“From now on, we should go further with fans and pile up our experiences together.
That sort of feelings was described in the album title”. said Hideyuki Shinzato in an interview.
The band split the recording period in March and June. They recorded in Tokyo and country side; Karuizawa.
New trials were made, based on the experience of making the last album “TRUNK”.
Inside the deep forest of Karuizawa; deep enough to fear bear. There they made and record songs. As Izumi Nakasone explains; “We record until 7 or 8 in the morning. Then
go back to Hideyuki Shinzato’s room and listened to what we had just recorded, then rearrange it…day and night was totally opposite at that time”.
“Bonds of HY” is what we feel strongly when we take a listen to the album.
No one but these five can make the music like this. Each character is vividly described, but at the same time the groove blends perfectly. They don’t just support each other, but
they put life in each other.
For example, you can find the aspects in balance between lyrics and tracks of their songs. “canvas”, “4WD”, and “scene” is written by Yuhei Miyazato. Tracks were made before, but lyrics were newly made. “canvas” starts with Izumi’s light touch scat.
“4WD” is the most live oriented sound. New style can find in “scene”; strings and the band develop together. Izumi Nakasone had written 2 songs for the first time. And their wish came true: working with gospel choir in “NAO”.
Band name is found in the song writer credits in 4 songs, that is another aspect of the bonds of band.
First song “Monokuro” starts with Hideyuki Shinzato and Izumi Nakasone’s duet,
followed by Shun Naka’s vocal gets the song stronger. Both Man and Woman side of stories are sung in “I JUST DO IT FOR YOU”. “HY LOVE SUMMER” is about their daily life. Each of the members are evenly featured in “Kono-Monogatari”
The reason why the topic like “to fall in love with someone” written in 22 ears old life-sized love song is because they lodge and recorded together.
Bonds of band appears in sound.
Topped the chart 3 albums in straight, the trunk is now bigger and the band is more confident.
