HY rarely appears on TV, needless to say the “variety show” but even in music programs.
CD’s and tour is their “appearance” to the public.
So, the expectation of their images on DVD is higher than other artists. You have the chance to see their daily life, on and off the stage. Though, audience is the other aspect that HY DVD need.
This is their first DVD; released on December 3, 2003, just after the album “Street Story” had become No.1 in the chart.
From April 16, 2003, the band went on their first tour “ASSE!!”
They had performed in 54 live houses across Japan. For Okinawa islanders, there were many first-time-ever places, and it was same for those fans in the area; seeing the members in person. This DVD is memorial record in that sense.
You’ll find the HY logo on the stage－the one you have already seen in the album “Departure” jacket－then the live scene starts with the logo.
First song is “White Beach”. Fully seated outside stage; audiences were jumping to the beat of the song. And their smiling faces remind me of the lyric “angel” in the song.
DVD features the live show scene, and rehearsal scenes, and just like visualizing the images of the song “Departure”, you can find a bus station, school kids, sea side, sunset, then the 5 members on the stage. In second song “Ocean”, you can see the HY logo on the sand washed away by the waves.
Each performance clearly states the band’s existence. They perform the song “AM 11:00” as if they are wrapped in the curtain of hibiscus, and guarded by the Shi-sa( beast of god) and spreading sound reaches up in the sky and dives down into the ocean.
They perform hard mixture “champru” rock style in the song “DREAMING”. The song “Sa-Iko” is shooted in the good old street live location. Hideyuki Shinzato waves the HY flag and the flag waves as if their dream and pride is proclaimed to the whole city of Chatan.
“Street Story” is the live scene of the special street live in Mihama Carnival park on September 28.
